Wines We're Drinking Now
The lion has been the emblem of the Hess Family for nine generations. It has come to symbolize the bold and persevering nature of founder Donald Hess and our winery home on Mount Veeder.
An extraordinary offering, this late harvest wine is an opulent treat produced only once prior...
Our signature Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon comes from our estate Veeder Hills Vineyard. The elevation of this vineyard ranges from 600-1,120 feet, and its steep slopes and sedimentary clay and shale soils restrict root growth, resulting in Mount Veeder’s hallmark small berries with intense fruit flavors.
Each holiday season Hess Collection winemaker Dave Guffy crafts a limited release cuvée meant for sharing with friends and family and dressed in a collectible edition bottle. Enjoy the inaugural vintage available in 750ml.
A beautiful and bold blend that highlights how Malbec can wrap itself seductively around Cabernet and create a luscious and complete wine.
This bold wine will stand well alongside braised or grilled meats like lamb, pork or duck dressed with sweet onions and earthy accents from mushrooms, eggplant and wild fennel.
This Cabernet Sauvignon brings all the roar of Napa Valley, and when blended with a touch of Malbec, produces a big, lush wine that finishes with smooth and tamed round tannins.
Located near the summit of Mount Veeder, our Small Block Malbec from the Veeder Summit Vineyard is supple and sensuous, with flavors of blackberries and dark fruits along with a touch of jam and peppery spice that allows the wine to linger.
This vibrant Zinfandel hails from the iconic Rockpile appellation. Located just 16 miles from the Pacific Ocean in the northwest corner of Sonoma County, the region is prized by those who love Zinfandel. Sweeping sun exposures, mountainous terroir and shallow, rocky soils stress the vines producing low yields with grapes of exceptional quality.
For those who enjoy an indulgence, our Sparkling Wine pairs perfectly with fresh oysters and caviar. Or try a soft-nutty cheese, like a locally sourced goat cheese.
