This Small Block Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from legendary Napa vineyards notable in their own right. The Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper vineyard from Oakville is the backbone of the blend, a vineyard first planted in 1877 to grapes, prunes and walnuts, typical of the time.
“Though I’ll gladly declare an allegiance to mountain fruit, there’s no denying that historic, venerable locations like Missouri Hopper on the Valley floor are a winemaker’s dream. Add a touch of fruit from Napa’s eastern benchlands near Atlas Peak and we have a very special wine indeed. The growing season brought spectacular fruit, and it shows in a blockbuster wine offering intensity in a classic Cabernet profile. Dark as midnight and showcasing black fruit such as blackberries and black cherries, you’ll also find aromas and flavors of black currants, anise and accents of toasty oak spice, chocolate mocha and cedar. The evident tannins are finely grained and pleasing, suggesting great aging potential.” -Dave Guffy, Director of Winemaking
